The European Commission has proposed a budget of €2 trillion (49.21 trillion CZK) for the period 2028 to 2034, according to Budget Commissioner Piotr Serafin. The financial plan places emphasis on economic competitiveness and defence, while also aiming to reform rules on subsidies for agriculture and economic development. In the coming months, one of the most complex negotiations in Brussels is set to begin. If we do not secure our own defence, we cannot focus our own energies on other priorities that are equally important, such as social services, education and strengthening our competitiveness. The subject of defence is being given greater priority, but the Danish Presidency will try to link the subject of defence with green issues and, last but not least, will not forget our competitiveness.
