We would like to cordially invite you to the debate "After the Brussels NATO Summit: Transatlantic Outlooks on Defense" which will take place on July 16, 2018 from 17:30 to 19:00 at the American Center in Prague.
Moderation: Martin Michelot, Deputy Director, EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy
While the NATO Summit has charted the course of transatlantic security discussions for the next two years, political questions about the vitality of the transatlantic relationship remain. First and foremost on the issues of transatlantic burden sharing, which President Donald Trump has insisted upon since his election. How will the Czech Republic, and other European partners, ensure that they respect the Wales spending pledge, and how will this money fit in the overall deterrence effort of NATO? How will the current efforts undertaken by the EU help these efforts, and what can the EU contribute in terms of ensuring European security?
Expertise: NATO and transatlantic security, European foreign policy and defense, French politics, elections and society, Visegrad Four and Central Europe, EU institutional issues
