Summary and recommendations based on the discussion of National Convention on EU Affairs, which took place on 18 September 2020, regarding the priorities of the upcoming Czech presidency in the Council of the EU 2022, are now available. They were prepared by Zuzana Kasáková, Vladimír Bartovic and Vít Havelka from EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy.

At the very end of September, the European Commission introduced a new pact on migration and asylum. It is a complex package of measures which responds to events of 2015 and 2016 and to the fact that there has been a very little progress made in regard of the migration and asylum policy reform. What exactly does the Commission’s new proposal contain? Will new migration quotas be introduced? Which measures will Czechia like the most and which of them will we criticize again? Our research fellow Vít Havelka in his latest article published by the news portal Info.cz commented on the Czech approach to the recently agreed EU budget for years 2021-27 and the use of funds from a pandemic-response package.

Our researcher Jana Juzová recently published an article on the news portal Info.cz dealing with the evaluation of developments in the countries applying for EU membership. In the text, the author summarizes the outputs that the European Commission came up with in its report and also comments on possible assistance in the form of the Economic and Investment Plan.

EUROPEUM's Danielle Piatkiewicz and Miroslava Pisklová co-authored a policy paper as a part of this year's Transatlantic Policy Forum (TAPF).

On Tuesday, October 6, Martin Vokálek, deputy director of the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, was a guest on the morning broadcast of Radio Z. He commented on Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's visit to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the current political situation in Belarus.

On 17th September 2020 we organized this year's third online debate from the Climate Talks cycle. The topic was the social dimensions of climate policies.

On Friday, October 2, our Žiga Faktor commented for ČT24 the latest development of the European Council. The topics were the common action against Turkey and sanctions on Belarus.

We would like to invite you to another debate from the series "What EU do we want to have in 2025?" This time we will discuss the topic of social policy of the EU, greater harmonization of national systems, as well as we will argue whether greater integration is worth it in the case of the Czech Republic.
