Our researchers Jana Juzová and Katharine Klačanský have written a background paper on EU relations with the Eastern Neighbourhood countries, in which they answer three specific questions. Should the EU continue to approach the Eastern Partnership group as a whole, or should it diversify its approach more? Should the EU develop a specific green strategy for the Eastern Neighbourhood countries and, if so, on what principles? How can the EU counter the influence of other powers (Russia, China, possibly Turkey) working against EU interests in the Eastern Neighbourhood?

In Hospodářské noviny, the director of the Institute for European Policy EUROPEUM, Zdeněk Beránek, commented on the current foreign policy activities of Jan Lipavský, who is nominated for the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Energy prices have been skyrocketing across Europe and the world in recent weeks. In Europe, for example, the price of natural gas has briefly risen by more than 800 per cent. Natural gas is used in many countries for home heating and also supplies electricity to industry and is set to play an important role in efforts to move away from coal. Our research fellow Vít Havelka contributed to the publication "MINILATERAL COOPERATION IN THE EU: Internal Cohesion, Group Dynamics, and Voting Behaviour of Selected State Blocks", published by the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade. He is the author of a chapter on the Visegrad Group.

Analyst and climate policy expert Kateřina Davidová evaluated the COP26 conference in Glasgow for Český rozhlas PLUS. She highlighted the article on coal, the goal of keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees and the formation of an alliance led by Denmark and Costa Rica, which called for a discussion on ending oil and gas extraction.

It's no longer if, but how. Kateřina Davidová in a commentary for INFO.CZ describes the results of the climate conference in Glasgow. She evaluated international cooperation and negotiations between the "rich" world and developing countries.

On 22nd of October 2021, Think Visegrad platform, Brussels office of EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy and Wilfried Martens Centre for European studies organised an expert round table titled New Pact on Migration and Asylum: Breaking the Deadlock. The event was held under the Chatham House Rules, with the participation of experts from the think-tank community as well as diplomats, representatives of the European Commission and UNHCR.

Our Jana Juzová, Alexandra Ilková, and Ondřej Pešek collaborated on the report of EU-Western Balkans Summit and its consequences. The conference took place in Carolinum on November 5, 2021. The speakers discussed relations between the European Union and Western Balkans and ways how to get the EU enlargement agenda back on track from the state of a deep crisis.

The director of the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, Zdeněk Beránek, commented for Czech Radio on the incoming Czech government headed by Petr Fiala of the ODS. He looked at whether the new government will actually follow Havel's human rights agenda, or what its installation will mean for the Visegrad Four.
