Horizont ČT24 | European countries are preparing for Donald Trump's presidency

On Monday, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States. In his inaugural speech, he did not mention Europe even once. What message does this send? Executive Director of EUROPEUM Institute Martin Vokálek commented for Horizont ČT24.

It's a signal linked to his motto: "America first" , where he will be primarily focused on domestic issues that will be front and center for him. For Europe, it means that he will be on the second or third line. Trump often does not see so strongly the historical link between Europe and the United States, where Europe is just another place on the map for him, where he will think very pragmatically about what Europe can give him and what it will mean for the United States.
