ČT24 | The EU budget should take into account that some countries may be problematic

This is a situation that we see in some Member States where there are some problems with respect for the rule of law. It is a problem, for example, in Hungary, in Slovakia, and it was also a problem in Poland. We are also seeing this situation now, where Slovakia is very strongly blocking - and often for reasons that are difficult to defend - the unity of the European Union. And that unity is crucial in the current situations that it is facing. At European level, too, there is therefore talk that the budget should be more flexible, but also that it should be prepared for the possibility that there may be states that abuse it, damage the interests of the European Union or act contrary to the rule of law. And the funds should respond more flexibly to this if these states are problematic, so that they are pushed more to solve these problems.
