Martial law declared by the President of South Korea lasted six hours. However, President Yoon Suk-yeol did not present any evidence to accuse the opposition of collaborating with North Korea. South Korean MPs and citizens, who, like the police, gathered at Parliament, created such pressure that the head of state backed down from his decision after a few hours. Tereza Novotná, an Associate Research Fellow at EUROPEUM Institute, commented on the situation in the podcast Výtah of Respekt magazine.

South Korea's head of state declared martial law amid a dispute over the national budget. The President made the surprise announcement in a televised speech. In the speech, he accused the opposition of sympathizing with North Korea and paralyzing the government with anti-state activities. Tereza Novotná, Research Associate at EUROPEUM Institute, commented for Tagesschau.

South Korean MPs vote unanimously against martial law. Demonstrators and parliamentary assistants clash at the entrances to the National Assembly, which has united against South Korean President Jun Sok-jool's surprise overnight decision to declare martial law for the first time since 1980.

There are few more influential civil service jobs in Brussels than those in the cabinets of the most important politicians. After three successful projects focusing on the decarbonization of the Czech automotive industry, the Green Europe team of EUROPEUM in collaboration with the Institute of Circular Economy (INCIEN) is broadening its focus and taking a more circular approach. This project will focus on better lifecycle and end-of-life management of materials used in vehicles and batteries. The collaboration will be split into two research areas.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, media coverage of the country has increased significantly. Interpreting and commenting on events, putting them in the news and shaping the debate about Ukraine's future prospects in relation to European integration has thus become an important part of the responsibility of most mainstream media. However, as the war drags on, the V4 citizens' awareness of the conflict has diverged. At different times, some topics have been given more emphasis than others, making the quality of coverage often incomplete or unconvincing. Some countries emphasise the autonomy of reporting, which in turn allows for broad and in-depth coverage, while there are regimes that narrow the information and use the topic of war to produce stories for domestic purposes.
