Report | European Democracy Shield: Strengthening Democratic Resilience in the EU

On 28 January 2026, the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, in cooperation with Lobbio, hosted a hybrid roundtable discussion in Brussels on the forthcoming European Democracy Shield initiative, aimed at strengthening civil society and democratic resilience across the European Union.

The discussion focused on the proposal's role in countering information manipulation and disinformation, safeguarding democratic institutions and electoral integrity, protecting independent media, and enhancing societal resilience through greater civic engagement.
