We would like to invite you to the in person debate called "Navigating the Indo-Pacific: Dealing with Geopolitical and Security Shifts in the Region" which will be held at EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, Staroměstké náměstí 4/1, Prague (Room "Minuta") on Friday, March 18 at 15:00.
This discussion is organized under the Transatlantic Policy Forum project and will be held in English. The event is organized in cooperation with Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique (FRS), France.
Moderation: Danielle Piatkiewicz, Research Fellow, EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy
Several EU member states – France, Germany, and the Netherlands – as well as the bloc itself have announced their strategy for the Indo-Pacific in the past years. The Indo-Pacific, a vast region spanning from Africa's east coast to the Pacific islands, has become increasingly strategic. After four decades of relative peace, it has turned into a prime area for strategic competition. The U.S.-China rivalry is reshaping the balance of power at play. Military budgets are growing and tensions in so-called grey zones are intensifying.
Together with these traditional security threats, other key issues have shaped the prosperity and sustainable and inclusive development of the Indo-Pacific. These challenges include maritime security, connectivity, digital and cybersecurity, fight against climate change, energy transition, and the protection of biodiversity, education and youth, etc.
We will be also broadcasting the event live and you can watch the live stream here on the event page. You will be able to join the discussion directly during the debate by commenting below the video. If you already have any questions, please post them in the discussion section of this event.
