The Second World War was a fundamental event in the development of Europe and its current shape. But are we still aware of this today? How does the younger generation feel about the conflict, which is 80 years away this year? And do we still need to remember it?

Energy prices have been skyrocketing across Europe and the world in recent weeks. In Europe, for example, the price of natural gas has briefly risen by more than 800 per cent. Natural gas is used in many countries for home heating and also supplies electricity to industry and is set to play an important role in efforts to move away from coal. A new government will lead the Czech Republic after the recent elections. It will have to face domestic challenges such as high inflation and rapidly growing national debt, the transition to a low-carbon economy and the issue of affordable housing. We invite you to the EU± debate, this time on whether the V4 is the most important ally of the Czech Republic. The debate is organised with the support of the Jean Monnet Chair TeDEUSS - Teaching and debating EU small states' security at FSV UK and co-funded by the European Union's Europe for Citizens programme.

As part of the fight against climate change and its effects, EU countries have committed themselves to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In addition to several other measures, the European Commission is also proposing that, from 2035, only non-carbon cars be sold in the EU. Electromobility and its impact on the automotive industry will be another topic of Café Evropa debates.
