Český rozhlas | Trump's meeting with Ursula von der Leyen

Trump is pressuring Europe with tariffs and setting conditions for an agreement. The EU is responding with its own list of sanctions. How close is a deal, and who holds the stronger position? The situation was commented on by Viktor Daněk, Executive Deputy Director and Head of the Prague Office.

I believe that if negotiations take place at the highest political level, it means there is truly a real chance for an agreement. Only those kinds of disagreements remain that cannot be resolved by diplomats and negotiators at the lower levels and therefore must be addressed by the top political leadership. However, predicting whether they will actually manage to reach an agreement is really impossible — we’ll just have to wait and see.
