Trump presents himself as the ultimate deal-maker throughout his life. Viktor Daněk, the deputy director of the EUROPEUM Institute commented for Český Rozhlas Plus.

The European countries did not expect the Trump administration to be a failure, but they are watching the leaps and bounds of the last few days in horrified amazement. Strong words such as betrayal or a second Munich are being hurled at the United States, which has begun to negotiate without Ukraine.

The Trump administration is denying everything on which post-war American foreign policy has stood so far. It is negotiating with Russia not from a position of strength but of weakness. It is retreating straight away with its cards exposed, and incomprehensibly so.
