ČT | Vote of No Confidence in von der Leyen and Her European Commission

The vote of no confidence in Ursula von der Leyen and her European Commission was commented on for ČT Studio 6 by Filip Křenek, an analyst at the Institute for European Policy EUROPEUM.
10. July 2025

The initiator of the vote of no confidence is Romanian far-right MEP Gheorghe Piperea from the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group, which also includes the Czech Civic Democratic Party (ODS). However, the ODS does not identify with this stance. The pretext for the vote is the so-called "Pfizergate" affair, in which the European Commission failed to disclose SMS communication between President Ursula von der Leyen and the CEO of Pfizer in response to a journalist’s inquiry.
