ČT24 | Balance the Trade Deficit, or We May Limit Imports, EU Commission Chief Warns in Beijing
During Thursday’s summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, EU officials called for more balanced trade relations. If China fails to deliver, the European Union may reduce its level of openness to Chinese imports, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen indicated. The situation was commented on by EUROPEUM Institute analyst Zuzana Krulichová.

In the context of the tariff measures coming from the United States, there is significant concern in the European market that China’s surplus and cheap Chinese goods will flood the European market. There is an effort to negotiate, but no compromise appears to be in sight.
Climate change is one of the few topics where the European Union and China are able to cooperate more easily than in other areas. As a result, it was the only joint statement that was issued.
