ČT24 | Meeting of constitutional representatives on foreign policy.

Security has been a strong election issue in many campaigns across the European Union, and it will be no different here in the parliamentary elections that are coming soon in the Czech Republic. Viktor Daněk, deputy director of the EUROPEUM Institute, commented for ČT24.

Emmanuel Macron was ridiculed at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine when he tried to reach Putin, but in retrospect he was right in many ways. I consider it extremely fortunate that he has now taken the initiative in European security, because there are few other leaders of his stature in Europe.

It remains a big question mark how to finance the increase in arms spending to 3% and whether it is sufficient, perhaps more a task for the next government.
