ČT24 | The Patriots have begun to break through the European isolation
For the first time in a long while, the European People’s Party supported a key vote with the help of the Patriots, once again disrupting the traditional cordon sanitaire toward populists and the far right. The fact is that the cordon sanitaire, although already quite porous, still exists.
We’ll see whether that changes halfway through the term, when committee leadership positions are elected again.
So far, we’ve seen only one case where they gained access to significant legislation — the 2040 environmental targets. And interestingly, the Patriots failed to assemble a voting majority there.
