Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is heading to the United States. But before that, he made a stop in Brussels. Martin Vokálek, Executive Director and Head of the Brussels Office, commented on the situation for Czech Radio.

Europe together with Ukraine does not want to be left out of the negotiations that have taken place between the United States and Russia. It has something to say and is deciding about its own future. The main goal for the EU as well as for Ukraine should primarily be to maintain unity in transatlantic relations and to agree on at least a minimal framework for security and political support. It is also necessary to clarify the role of Europe and the United States in resolving the war that Russia has been waging against Ukraine for over three years. In short, to truly negotiate what was agreed upon at Friday’s summit.
