Air carriers using fuels such as hydrogen from renewable energy or other non-fossil fuels should receive a share of free emission allowances. Filip Křenek, analyst at EUROPEUM Institute, commented for Ekonomický deník.

The current system of emission allowances only covers flights that start and end in Europe. Member States therefore agreed last year to gradually charge for other aviation emissions and phase out free emission allowances. The European Commission has now published the proposal for comment.
