Právo | The EU has accepted absurd conditions
The European Union has agreed to the terms of a trade agreement with the US that many consider to be one-sidedly disadvantageous. Although the agreed 15% tariff is intended to mitigate the effects of a possible conflict, critics say it is not a solution that will ensure long-term stability. The EU has apparently agreed to "absurd" demands in order to prevent greater economic damage. Viktor Daněk, director of the Prague office of the EUROPEUM Institute, commented on this for the daily newspaper Právo.

The European Commission nevertheless agreed to these absurd conditions. The aim was clearly not to secure a long-term solution but merely to minimize damage, ensure a predictable environment, and weather Trump's presidency at the lowest possible cost until his hopefully more liberal successor moves into the White House.
