TN Live | EU has approved further sanctions. They target the Russian industry and energy sector

European Union has approved its fourteenth package of sanctions against Russia, specifically targeting 116 additional individuals. Whom will the new package of sanctions affect the most? How effective have previous packages been so far? Martin Vokálek, Executive Director of EUROPEUM Institute, answered these questions live for TN Live.

Russia must significantly maneuver around the sanctions, for example, through third countries, and sell its commodities that cannot be exported to the European Union elsewhere and often below market price, which naturally has a negative impact on Russia. The new sanctions included in the 14th package also concern liquefied natural gas (LNG), where these sanctions prohibit the transport of Russian LNG through European ports and further distribution. As a result, it will be more difficult for Russia to export gas.
