TN Live | France has called another summit on Ukraine. Czech Republic can make a major contribution, says expert

A second EU leaders' summit is held in Paris to discuss European security and the future of Ukraine. This time, other EU countries were invited, including the Czech Republic. Martin Vokálek, executive director of the EUROPEUM Institute, commented for TN.cz.
19. February 2025

The Paris summit was a reaction to the decisive steps taken by Donald Trump and his administration to negotiate directly with the Russian Federation. Both the European Union and Ukraine itself are outside these negotiations.

The Czech Republic's criticism for not being invited to the first Paris summit is justified. However, I believe Macron's administration only wanted to speed up the negotiations, so the first summit was held in a smaller circle of selected states. Negotiating a peace agreement in Ukraine is not a short race, but rather a marathon in which the EU must have a real consensus.
