TN Live | The Czech Republic is finished with Russian oil. Consumption will now be covered by other supplies

For the first time in more than sixty years, the Czech Republic will be without Russian oil supplies. The newly secured crude supplies should cover all domestic consumption without depending on a single supplier. The country is thus fulfilling its commitment to the European Union and strengthening its energy security. Viktor Daněk, deputy director of the EUROPEUM Institute, commented for TN Live.
22. April 2025

Russian oil doesn't have to flow to us if we don't want it to. We have a fully available supply of crude oil that can cover the total consumption in the Czech Republic - but it is really only crude oil, not oil or other products. The key advantage is that we are no longer dependent on one supplier. We have the option of choosing anyone who is able to transport the oil by sea to the port of Trieste in Italy and then by pipeline to the Czech Republic. In this way, we have fulfilled the commitment we signed up to within the European Union.
