We’ve been talking about the single internal market for 40 years—and it was supposed to be completed in 1992. That’s why there’s this creative legislative approach to completely bypass what isn’t working, circumvent national legislators, and create an alternative regime that companies can choose to join—or not, if they don’t want to. At the very least, it’s a way to simplify things—to simplify the process of starting and closing a business, which is an essential part of doing business.
