Karel Voldřich works at EUROPEUM Institute as a researcher, where he focuses primarily on decarbonisation of heavy industry and critical minerals within the Green Europe Programme.
Karel is a graduate of the Prague University of Economics and Business, where he studied Finance and Accounting as well as Financial Management. Until March 2026, he served as the Head of Department at the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, where he was responsible for allocating €2 billion from the Social Climate Fund to combat energy poverty.
Previously, he led the Analytical Department at the same ministry, focusing on renewable energy and the circular economy. Before that, he collaborated with EUROPEUM Institute and the ISFC think-tank as the Head of Industry Decarbonisation for Central Europe. In this position, he developed financing roadmaps and decarbonisation trajectories for the region‘s heavy industry.
He was also a member of the supervisory board of the SEIFA project, which supported investments in sustainable energy within companies. Since 2023, he has been working as an external innovation evaluator for EcoTech start-ups at CzechInvest, where he assesses business models focused on decarbonisation and climate-positive technologies.
As a member of the Energy Commission of Prague 5 he contributes to the development of energy strategies for the district. He also gained earlier experience in the private sector as a financial analyst at WPB Capital.
