The ANO movement won the European elections, while the Spolu coalition took second place. The biggest individual winner was Filip Turek. In other European countries, the most resonant event was the significant defeat of French President Emmanuel Macron, who subsequently announced early elections. Viktor Daněk, Deputy Director of EUROPEUM Institute, analyzed the European elections in the Novinky Express program.

The Parliament will be somewhat more right-leaning, but not nearly as much as Ursula von der Leyen herself might have imagined as a probable candidate for the President of the European Commission. At the same time, it will be less Green, but again, not to the extent that was predicted. What I find more interesting, however, is looking at individual countries. Particularly in Germany and France, the results are, in my view, a humiliating debacle for the ruling parties.
