Debate | Passenger Rights: What Will the New EU Rules Bring?

Join us for another discussion following the European Parliament’s plenary session. This time, the topic is passenger rights—and how the newly approved rules for their protection in air travel will help them. This Monday, July 13, at Europa Experience, Národní 10.
13. July 2026

After more than ten years of negotiations, a groundbreaking agreement has been reached to update the rules protecting air travelers. These rules are intended to provide clearer conditions in the event of flight delays or cancellations, simplify the process of claiming compensation, and hold airlines more accountable to passengers. At the same time, after lengthy negotiations, the current level of compensation for flight cancellations or delays has been maintained.

What specific changes will the new rules bring? Will passengers truly have a stronger position vis-à-vis airlines? And how will these changes affect the operation of air travel in practice?
