The initiative aims to reduce bureaucracy, cut costs, and remove barriers within the single market, while also raising concerns about data protection and the potential pressure to make the system widely mandatory. According to Filip Křenek, a financial analyst at the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, the digital identity project is currently transitioning from pilot testing to full-scale implementation. Pilot schemes are underway to assess how the digital wallet functions in real-world conditions. A wide range of companies and institutions across the EU are involved, including Czech entities such as Aricoma, Gen Digital, Bankovní identita, and the national domain administrator CZ.NIC.
