Seznam Zprávy | Unity is key. National interests must not prevail in Europe, warns analyst

But now, in a way, the United States is rapidly giving up its traditional spheres of influence to focus on its short-term "America First". By clearing space, however, they are leaving another dominant state, such as Russia, free to do whatever it wants within the world order.

Europe needed a few wake-up calls to really understand that the world is changing. And that it is actually more dangerous than it was, for example, fifteen years ago. The first wake-up call should have been Russia's annexation of Crimea, but that did not happen. Nor did it wake up because of the various operations of the Russian Federation in some countries. I had also hoped that the wake-up call would be a full-scale Russian military invasion in 2022, but it was still not enough of a wake-up call for Europe.
