Although there is a lot of positive energy and great appreciation, even from the European Union—encouragement and recognition that these countries are indeed fulfilling their tasks relatively well, and their interest and effort are evident—the problem may lie in the speed at which these reforms are being adopted. The rush to check reforms off the list often comes at the expense of their quality and sustainability. It is necessary to consider whether what is being done is being handled properly and whether it will create problems later on, once those countries join the EU.
