Slawa.tv | Ukrainian track: between Brussels and Orbán

There is some optimism in the European defence sphere, especially after the recent NATO summit, but real differences remain. Martin Vokálek, Executive Director of the EUROPEUM Institute, commented for the Ukrainian media Slawa.tv.

While initiatives such as SAFE and Readiness 2030 represent a structural change in EU defence planning, their implementation will depend on national will - and actual funding. Some countries, such as France, Germany and the Nordic countries, are stepping up their efforts. Others, such as Spain or even Slovakia, which borders Ukraine, are still reluctant.

The real test will be whether EU countries can move from declarations to concrete actions, including joint procurement, military mobility and long-term financial support to Ukraine.
