ČT24 | The complex path to peace in Ukraine

Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff has had a night of meetings in Moscow. U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio said the ceasefire remains uncertain, but admitted to signs of optimism. The Kremlin made a similar point. Viktor Daněk, deputy director of the EUROPEUM Institute, commented for ČT24.

I am concerned that the United States is entering the negotiations from a position not of strength but, quite incomprehensibly, of a willingness in advance where it is able to make concessions. At the same time, Russia is stepping up its demands, with the result that a potential compromise may be significantly skewed in Russia's favour. I believe that this would be an extremely undesirable outcome, but unfortunately we are heading towards it.
