Český zájem | Europe as a Task, safety, and competitiveness

"In the Czech Republic and in Europe in general, we lack a certain art of foresight, we can predict the next 2-3 years, but we cannot predict various scenarios in depth and be prepared for them." Martin Vokálek, Executive Director of EUROPEUM Institute, was a guest on the podcast Český zájem with Jan Lipavský.

The individual panels revealed that three things are important in today's world: first and foremost, defence and security, which is no longer a given and must be taken into Europe's own hands, as we can no longer rely on the US. It is also important to compete in world markets and in a changing environment, and we must keep pace with other European powers. Last but not least, the need to act and the need for joint action was evident; Europe and its Member States must be proactive.

We have a strong voice in Europe. The fact that we have not been able to use it in the past and that previous governments have not made proactive policies is another story. It has improved quite a bit recently, which was helped by the Czech Presidency, but we are still a medium-sized country and we do have a voice in the EU.
