Families are expected to pay significantly more in just a year and a half for heating with gas boilers or coal, as well as for petrol and diesel. Households are rejecting the idea, according to data from the STEM agency for the Institute for European Policy EUROPEUM. Analyst Rebeka Hengalová from EUROPEUM commented on the issue for Novinky.cz.

Fuel, coal, and gas allowances are unpopular in the Czech Republic. Citizens' concerns are justified—energy bills represent a significant portion of household budgets. Whether or not the Czech Republic adopts the allowance system, we won’t avoid rising prices for these commodities.
Even if we choose not to participate, other EU member states will adopt the system—some already have their allowance schemes in place. Since fuels, coal, and natural gas are traded on a common European market, their prices will rise here as well.
