We would like to invite you to another debate in the EU± series on how the new government will approach the European Union and how its European policy will differ from that of Andrej Babiš. The debate will take place online on Thursday 25 November 2021 at 18:00.

Lenka Farkačová wrote a EU MONITOR about the upcoming workforce crisis (the lack of employees not only in the case of EU countries, but also for example in the USA) and how it causes a tendency to deviate from the ideal state of long-term sustainable labour market.

Our Research Fellow Danielle Piatkiewicz and Project Manager Alexandra Visnerova wrote a background paper under the Transatlantic Policy Forum in which they evaluate the new transatlantic agenda and goals of both EU and the US and assess how the two sides can work closer together to tackle geopolitical challengers, align on security, trade, climate, and digital policies. The paper offers recommendations on how to strengthen the transatlantic relationship, with special emphasis placed on the Central and Eastern European region.

We would like to invite you to a conference titled "30 Years of Visegrad: Role of the V4 countries in shaping the future of the EU". The debate will take place on Monday, 22nd of November 2021 starting from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. The event will take place in Brussels and will be live-streamed online.

Our researchers Jana Juzová and Katharine Klačanský have written a background paper on EU relations with the Eastern Neighbourhood countries, in which they answer three specific questions. Should the EU continue to approach the Eastern Partnership group as a whole, or should it diversify its approach more? Should the EU develop a specific green strategy for the Eastern Neighbourhood countries and, if so, on what principles? How can the EU counter the influence of other powers (Russia, China, possibly Turkey) working against EU interests in the Eastern Neighbourhood?

The director of the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, Zdeněk Beránek, commented for the Danish newspaper Politiken on the topic of Orbán's ally loss - Andrej Babiš. He commented on the changes that come with the departure of Babiš and his replacement by Petr Fiala as prime minister. He mentions the rhetoric and style, the stance on the European Union's climate packages and the identification and solution of the Czech Republic's problems.

Our research fellow Vít Havelka together with Torval Tangeland, Petr Soukup, Nikola Hořejš, and Pål Strandbakken wrote a Policy Paper as a part of the project Green Transformation: Sustainable Consumption and European Single Market policies supported by the Norway Grants in the Czech Republic. In this paper, he compares and identifies knowledge gaps between Czech and Norwegian consumers. He gives an overview of the present situation in both countries, including possible research gaps and describes the unique national contexts and experiences.

The latest National Convention on the EU took place on the 15th of October 2021. Here is a summary of the basic points discussed at the Convention. The recommendation was prepared by Michal Hrubý.
