The European Union and the United States have reached an agreement on import tariffs. Instead of the originally announced 30% tariffs, both sides agreed on a compromise rate of 15%, which should keep the market stable while mitigating the impact on businesses. Martin Vokálek, Executive Director of the EUROPEUM Institute, commented on CNN Prima News.

This is a satisfactory result. Negotiations with Donald Trump were really difficult, which is why it is very complicated to set up negotiations in such a way that they are fair. Fifteen percent is a relatively positive result, at least from the perspective of companies, because it is a clearly defined and predictable rate. In addition, the 15% on the American side will ultimately be tariffs that they themselves will pay, so it should not significantly affect prices for Czech and European consumers. Of course, it will have some impact on the costs of companies that export to the United States.
