Debate | Illegal Migration – What Does the New EU Legislation Bring?

Illegal migration remains a long-standing major problem in the European Union, for which member states are constantly seeking common and effective solutions. A significant step in this regard could be the entry into force in June of the new migration pact and the agreement between the European Parliament and the member states on a new regulation in the field of migration. Come join the discussion on Monday, June 22.
22. June 2026

The set of new measures includes, among other things, streamlining asylum and return procedures and establishing a new system of solidarity among member states. What impact will this have on migration to Europe? Will it contribute to more effective regulation of migration flows? And does it succeed in striking a balance between effective migration regulation and the protection of fundamental human rights?
