On 9 May, the new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will visit Brussels and meet with senior EU officials. Viktor Daněk, deputy director of the EUROPEUM Institute, commented for ČRo Plus.

This is rather an initial symbolic meeting that will set the direction and tone of future relations between Germany and the heads of EU institutions. Topics such as the tightening of migration conditions or the future of the competitiveness and security of the European Union are sure to come up at the meeting.

The topic of migration is one of the more interesting topics they will debate, as they differ quite a bit on the details.
