Defence and security is primarily a matter for individual Member States. Within the EU, states have more opportunities for coordination than in the North Atlantic Alliance. New instruments like SAFE or the 2030 Readiness Strategy, there are a lot of investment incentives, programmes and projects to better coordinate the security organisation of states.

Russia has made it clear several times that it is not interested in being involved in ceasefire negotiations. It has been repeatedly urged by the EU and by a number of European statesmen, and it has been repeatedly pushed by Donald Trump. All the pressure exerted on Vladimir Putin to end his war of aggression against Ukraine is not being met with practical consequences. He wants to continue the war, but he wants to expand his influence as part of his imperialist tendencies, and he is already waging a hybrid war against many European countries, including the Czech Republic.
