Our researcher Zuzana Stuchlíková was speaking in the ČRo Evropa plus program about the Conference on the Future of Europe. What will the European Union look like in the coming years?
According to Zuzana Stuchlíková, the legal basis for the conference was the Lisbon Treaty, which in several of its articles provides for so-called participatory democracy, i.e. direct contact with European citizens in the creation of primary legislation. The conference was the first attempt to communicate with citizens in this way. The result of the Conference is a document of over 300 pages containing both general and very specific proposals.
