Climate Protection in a World on Fire: What’s Next?

Can common ground be found in an era of growing geopolitical rivalry? Who will bear the costs of climate change if international cooperation fails?
26. October 2026

Climate change is having increasingly visible and devastating impacts, and the European Union aspires to be a global leader in addressing it. The UN Climate Change Conference, which will also be attended by a delegation from the European Parliament, presents an opportunity to find common ground at a time when countries often pursue diverging interests.

Can common ground be found in an era of growing geopolitical rivalry? Who will bear the costs of climate change if international cooperation fails?

We will discuss these questions at the Europa Experience multimedia centre.

The discussion will feature:

  • Jana Nagyová, Member of the European Parliament
  • Viktor Daněk, Czech Radio
  • Romana Jungwirth Březovská, Analyst at the Association for International Affairs (AMO)

The discussion will be moderated by Zuzana Stuchlíková from the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy.

The event is organised by the European Parliament Liaison Office in the Czech Republic in cooperation with the EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy. The aim of this series of debates is to provide an accessible overview of the latest decisions and positions of the European Parliament and to offer a platform for open discussion between Members of the European Parliament, experts and the public.
