JustGreen Project at the Climate Action Conference 2026

On March 18, at the “Science for Climate Action 2026” conference in Brussels, we presented our JustGreen project as part of a session focused on the experiences of citizens in the V4 countries with the green transition and its impact on their daily lives. Rebeka Hengalová, Research Fellow at EUROPEUM Institute, outlined the project’s main objectives and findings.

According to these, while the public supports climate goals, it also faces a number of practical obstacles. These include, for example, high renovation costs, limited awareness of available grant programs, or lower trust in how individual measures are implemented.

“Despite widespread awareness of the New Green Savings program, more than half of those surveyed told us they had never tried to apply for a grant. Roughly one-fifth believe they wouldn’t receive it anyway. This shows us that we need to continue informing the public about their options for reducing energy bills,” says Rebeka Hengalová, reflecting on the ongoing research.

We want to continue exploring these topics and find ways to bring the green transition closer to people in their daily lives and to incorporate their perceptions and experiences into climate policies. Only then will these policies be accepted in the long term.
